Tumbleweed Ranch is a historic ranch in the city of Chandler that was built in the late 1800s. The ranch was originally used as a dairy farm and later became a cattle ranch. Today, the ranch is a popular tourist destination and is open to the public for tours. It is a great place to learn about the history of Agriculture in the west while enjoying a first-hand experience of the times. A great place to also visit.

The ranch was founded by John Marshall in 1892. Marshall came to Arizona from Missouri in the mid-1880s, and after working as a miner and a photographer, he decided to start his own ranch. He chose the site of the present-day Tumbleweed Ranch because of its proximity to water and grass. The first years were difficult for Marshall and his family, but they persevered and eventually became successful.

The ranch continued to operate as a dairy farm until the early 1900s, when it was converted to a cattle ranch. The cattle business was booming in the West, and Tumbleweed Ranch soon became one of the largest and most successful ranches in Arizona. In fact, the ranch was so successful that it was featured in several magazines and newspapers of the time.

Today, Tumbleweed Ranch is not only a bunch of old houses, but also a living history museum of sorts. If you’re interested in the past, this place in Chandler is definitely worth checking out! The 14-acre property hosts school field trips, educational programs, and events like the Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook Off throughout the year.

Visitors get to witness two historic homes, the Edwards and McCroskey Houses, which have been restored to their original condition. The beautiful white McCroskey House, built in 1915, is a great example of Mission Revival architecture. The Edwards House, on the other hand, is a more vernacular style home that was built in 1896. It has been said that this is the oldest home still standing in Chandler!
